What is Weekday Religious Education (W.R.E)
W.R.E is an interdenominational program wherein 4th and 5th grade students are provided off-campus, time-release, Biblical instruction with the parent or guardian's permission. The materials and the activity described herein are not sponsored or endorsed by Frederick County Public Schools. .
Our off-campus facility is a safely renovated school bus that takes students to a nearby parking space.
What do Students Learn?
Each week, our 4th and 5th grade students explore scripture and a story from the Bible. They learn "Getting Acquainted with the Old Testament" one year, and "The Life of Christ" the following year. Students are prayed with and encouraged during this time.
How do I Enroll My Child
4th and 5th grade students may enroll in W.R.E. at any time throughout the school year with parent permission. Please submit the sign up form below and we will be in touch. Questions can be addressed with Caroline Evers by emailing cafritts@gmail.com
What are the Benefits of W.R.E.
- Helps each child grow in understanding his or her uniqueness in the kingdom of God.
- Supplements and enriches religious instruction that the child might receive at home or in a church.
- Helps children develop the understanding that God is our Father, Jesus is our Savior and friend, and the Holy Spirit is our guide.
- Helps children grow in the ability to read, understand, and apply the truths of scripture.
- Helps the child see the relevancy of the Bible for everyday living.
How do I Support W.R.E
If you would like to help continue this program, we would appreciate your prayers, contributions, and time. W.R.E. is supported by donations from churches, organizations and individuals. Together they are providing Biblical instructions to students in all twelve FCPS elementary schools.
